Lisa offers a compassionate, grounded and collaborative approach to supporting clients in achieving greater personal awareness and happiness. She holds a deep curiosity and genuine empathy with respect to people’s struggles. With over 30 years of experience working with the Vancouver School Board in a variety of community based settings, she builds an environment of trust to support diversity in gender identity, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Lisa’s counselling practice is informed through extensive training and experience and is aligned with the First People’s Principles of Learning. She draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Focusing Oriented Therapy and Family Systems models. She has special interest in Couples Therapy. Leslie Silverwood is passionate about providing personalized counselling and empowering her clients to attain a meaningful, balanced and resilient life. She earned her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at UBC in 2011 and brings over 20 years of experience working with youth, adults and families as an educator and then counsellor at the Vancouver School Board. She has a professional passion for supporting youth, adults and families through many challenging issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief and loss. Leslie supports parents in navigating the educational system when their children and youth are struggling with learning differences, mental health, emotional and self-regulation challenges and behavioral concerns. Her skills include working with neurodiverse people such as those living with learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Leslie supports her clients in a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic environment where they work together to create growth and change. She focuses on a collaborative approach and integrates a variety of different counselling modalities into her work to meet the individual needs, such as, client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed practice, positive psychology, and mindfulness based stress reduction techniques.

She provides counselling for youth (14+) and adults. As a former teacher, resource teacher, case manager and school counsellor, she also offers parent consultations which can be stand alone or paired with therapy for their youth. Glenda Wallace has an intuitive ability to connect with her clients. She is warm, caring and deeply attuned to each person’s unique needs. Glenda listens thoughtfully, asks the right questions, and stays curious. She is dedicated to her practice in a way that is safe, intuitive, knowledgeable and genuine.

Her ability to meet her clients where they are in their lives is informed though her entrenched philosophy of life long learning. Through on-going training and life experience, she demonstrates lessons acquired and lessons applied. She has gained invaluable wisdom from her own personal therapy (thanks to Peter Vaughan) in her imperfect life. As a result, she is confident that she can offer better care to the people in the community.

Before working in private practice sixteen years ago, she worked for five years with the Vancouver School Board as a District Area Counsellor. She also taught communication skills to first year medical students at UBC.
